The two-headed monster

“About thirty years ago there was much talk that geologists ought only to observe and not theorise; and I well remember some one saying that at this rate a man might as well go into a gravel-pit and count the pebbles and describe the colours. How odd it is that anyone should not see that all observation must be for or against some view if it is to be of any service!” — Charles Darwin

I was asked to interpret this quote last Friday. While it’s intended for science, the applicability of this quote has relevance to this time. Every day we make observations, but many times we let them stay as observations. Sometimes this is okay.. but if we extend this quote to our lives today, I think what Darwin is linking is the connection between observation and action. Observations of rocks are useless without taking action into how and why the observations matter. In the same way, F3 nation seeks to inspire HIM who not only can make observations, but transform those observations into actions to make our communities a better place. Let’s not be passive, but instead take a stand for justice and truth in our communities, and inspire others to do the same.

The mumblechatter was high today! Good work everyone.

Drifter moving party next week.

“Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they’ve been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It’s an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It’s a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”

Embrace the challenge everyday to not shy away from the difficult things in life.

Getting off the bench

THE SCENE: Nice, clear morning with a temperature of 35 degrees

Warm up consisted of SSH (15), 10 Imperial Squat Walkers, 8 little baby arm circles, 8 Mountain Man Poopers,

We started off with a merkin exercise of bring sally up to the song Flower by Moby. This consists of 3 minutes of merkins, with holding at various positions.

A brief Mary was done by PAX picking an exercise for other PAX to complete while they mosey to the other end of the AO to complete 10 single count Iron Mikes. Exercises completed were 10 Thrusters, 10 CMU swings, 10 Mountain man poopers, and 10 4 count CMU flutterkicks

“There’s three things, to my account, that I need each day: One of them is something to look up to, another is something to look forward to, and another is someone to chase,” McConaughey

I encouraged PAX to answer these three questions, and challenged them to be the person today they want to be tomorrow. Everyday we must make hard decisions to better ourselves and our community.

The Arsenal AO launch is scheduled for March 6th!!

‘Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up, it knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn’t matter whether you’re the lion or a gazelle-when the sun comes up, you’d better be running.’

There’s a lot of important takeaways from this quote, but two things are shared between the lion and the gazelle that are applicable to our lives. 1) They know what they have to do every day to accomplish their goals and 2) They make the decisions every day to help them reach their goal, knowing the wrong decision can result in their demise.

The genealogy of Christ has been on my heart the past few weeks. Everyone’s got their fair share of embarrassing stories or forgettable moments in our families. But I think the genealogy of Christ provides a powerful story of the heart of God for his people. All throughout the old testament we see God redeeming his people to preserve a Holy lineage. Thus, the story of redemption is prevalent in the old testament and stories like Ruth remind us the gift of Christ is part of God’s omnipotent plan for redemption of all people.
Pinnochio collected coats for Maryville Karm. Bombshelter donated a total of 36 coats! Awesome job HIMs.
